JANESVILLE
The Fazoli’s restaurant along Janesville’s busy Humes Road apparently is closed for good.
The fast-casual Italian food restaurant near the Janesville Target store at 2105 Humes Road has dumpsters set around it, and on Thursday, a local contractor was taking down the restaurant’s signs.
An undated sign taped to the door announces the Fazoli’s is closed permanently. The sign thanks Janesville customers for their patronage.
A company profile shows Fazoli’s continues to operate about 200 U.S. stores.
On Thursday afternoon, the restaurant’s phone number rang to a voicemail.
It’s not clear what the owner intends to do with the property. The same owner recently built a Chili’s restaurant in the lot next door, which had been the home of the former Janesville Perkins restaurant.
The Fazoli’s is adjacent to the corner of Humes Road and Milton Avenue — an intersection of two major retail corridors that state traffic counts estimate sees as much as 40,000 vehicles a day.
