BELOIT

A new community recovery center for those dealing with substance dependence will be opening in Beloit soon.

Project WISHOPE will be holding a grand opening for its new Rock County Recovery Community Center from 4 — 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 424 College St., Beloit. The center will be in the building which formerly housed Beloit Meals on Wheels.

The center will offer support groups, peer recovery coaching, addiction treatment services as well as family and community education services.

Ryan Rehak, director of community engagement for Project WISHOPE said the center also will offer connections to resources that can help people find a job, acquire housing, acquire food and clothing and more. There also will be support meetings for Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

Rehak said there will be Narcan training at the center as well as in the community upon request. Narcan is used to reverse the affects of an opioid overdose.

There also will be training of recovery coaches at the center.

Rehack said Project WISHOPE has been helping people in Rock County for about two years. It has been working with Rock County Human Services, the Gifts Men’s Homeless Shelter, and Addiction Medical Services in Janesville.

The center in Beloit will not offer inpatient services, nor will it offer methadone or other medical treatments. Project WISHOPE does operate an inpatient facility in Brodhead and if a person needs inpatient care, that person will be referred to the proper facility, Rehak said. If methadone is required, a person may be referred to Addiction Medical Services in Janesville.

Project WISHOPE also has facilities in Waukesha, Waupaca, the Baraboo area and Brodhead, Rehak said.

At the grand opening, people will be able to learn about services and support options available. They can learn about counseling available and the resources available in the area. There will be snacks and beverages at the grand opening event. There also will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Five people will be working at the new Beloit center. Hours for the center will be from 2 — 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. — 2 p.m. Saturday.

Rehak said local residents and public officials are welcome to attend the grand opening.
